Benedict

Design Director, Die-Cast Vehicles Hot Wheels & Matchbox / Mattel, Inc.

Bryan Benedict is the Design Director of Die-Cast Vehicles for the Hot Wheels and Matchbox brands. Bryan Benedict’s passion for designing cars began at an early age, as he dreamed about becoming a car designer while in elementary school. Bryan realized that dream after graduating in 1994 with a degree in Transportation Design from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. He spent 10 years in the car industry working with OEMs including Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Ford, GM and Chrysler and many more.

Bryan joined Mattel and the ultimate car design team at Hot Wheels in 2004, with work spanning the brand’s entertainment and innovation efforts as well as Hot Wheels basic cars and adult collector lines. Bryan was part of the development of the Emmy-nominated and Gemini award-winning Hot Wheels animated series Battle Force 5, and has also been the design lead for the Monster Trucks line. More recently, Bryan was the driving force behind the creation of Hot Wheels’ world of licensed entertainment character cars, reminaging pop culture characters as Hot Wheels cars from properties such as DC Comics, Star Wars, Marvel, Disney, Looney Tunes, Minions, Jurassic World, Super Mario, Minecraft and more. He was the creative force behind the full-size, fully-functioning Darth Vader car, which was featured on Jay Leno’s Garage.

When not designing Hot Wheels® Bryan can usually be found with his lovely wife and their 5 children, enjoying the beauty of Southern California and all it has to offer.
